What happens if I don’t hit the fundraising Minimum?
I am on a team - can we just fundraise enough as a team to cover one another’s $500 minimum?
Are there any training rides?
Bike Store Partner or Engaged team Captain might be willing to lead open training rides. If you don’t have a training ride link to Ride with GPS.
I don’t have a team but would love to join one, are there any teams accepting lone riders?
Connect with local bike store, or large team captain to see if they are open to taking new riders.
What kind of bike do I need?
Road bike is best, but you can participate with any bike!
Do you have a recommended Bike Store?
Package Pick Up
Package pickup will be on location at Wheelock Hall Acadia University on the morning of the bike tour.
Can I pick up my friend/teammates package?
As long as they have reached the $500 minimum fundraising, feel free to pick up for your friend, or your entire team! Make sure to get their sizing if they’ve reached a fundraising rewards level!
Is there a minimum age?
The minimum age to participate in MS Bike is 12 years old. Participants between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Chariots and baby carriers are not permitted on the route.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted on the route.
What happens if I hit a fundraising reward?
Click here to check out the fundraising rewards! If you qualify for a reward, you can pick it up on the morning of the bike tour. If you hit a reward level after the bike tour, connect with Melanie.Skelhorn@mscanada.ca to get your rewards!
Accommodations
There are towels, linens, soap, and showers at the dorms. The dorm rooms we are staying in are air conditioned again this year.
Event Meal Plan
Saturday Lunch Menu:
BBQ – Sausages from Noggins Farm Market
Fresh seasonal vegetables like mini cucumbers, tomatoes, local fruit, cheese, bread, crackers, butter, hummus, jam, and jellies
Saturday Evening Dinner Menu:
Fresh rolls with butter
Garden salad
Homestyle potato salad-NO EGG
BBQ 1/4 cut chicken-gluten free
Whole wheat and white pasta as well as GF pasta available
Smoked chicken cream sauce and roasted vegetable marinara sauce-vegetarian and gluten free
Hot apple crisp with whipped topping
Lemonade, fruit punch & water
Cash Bar available
Rest Stops will have easy to grab snacks and fresh local produce and bananas with water and orange Gatorade
Weekend refreshment table will be available throughout the event with items for Saturday morning breakfast when you arrive and then snacks for the weekend and evening.
Sunday Breakfast Menu will be served in Wheelock Hall. You will receive a breakfast ticket at check in for Sunday morning. Wheelock provides a full buffet breakfast with hot, cold, and fresh fruit options with coffee, tea, juice and water.
I have food allergies, should I bring my own food?
We do our best to accommodate all our cyclists, however all allergy restrictions and food specifications cannot be met. We do our best to share the event meal plan in advance of the ride. If you do have a severe allergy, please bring your own food for the weekend to ensure your safety.
What if I get a breakdown along the route or can’t finish?
MS Bike is a fully supported ride with first aid, mechanics, and support vehicles. If you need help or encounter a breakdown, move to the side of the road and hold your helmet up.
What happens day 1 after the ride?
We will be having BBQ / picnic lunch at Acadia University when you return from Day 1. There will be an opportunity to visit the Acadia Sports Therapy tent on site for physiotherapy support and some lawn games and photo area to have some fun. You can explore the beautiful town of Wolfville or relax in your room before heading over to Wheelock Hall for the cash bar in the evening where we will celebrate together with a buffet dinner, music and awards.
Will I need to bring cash / debit?
There is a cash bar available on Saturday evening.
Can my family/friend join in after the ride?
Absolutely! Additional meal tickets are available for purchase at check in for $35.00
I received more donations after the event, what should I do with them?
Fundraising is open until September 30th! If you hit a milestone after the event, you can still receive that item.
I had so much fun, when can I register for next year!?
MS Bike has year-round registration and fundraising! Registration for next year will be open event weekend, with fundraising starting October 1st.
When will the pictures be posted?
It can take some time for photo’s to be sent from our photographers. Typically, they are posted on our Flickr account and Facebook Bike group 4-6 weeks after the event.
